Guide to Use Air Source Heat Pumps in Winter

Latest company news about Guide to Use Air Source Heat Pumps in Winter

With the arrival of the heating season, the weather gradually turns cold. Too low temperature will affect the efficiency of the use of air source heat pumps. Moreover, in the low-temperature environment in winter, the air source heat pumps are prone to freezing and other situations. How to maintain the air source heat pump, keep the machine running normally, and help yourself live a warm winter, has become the most concerned issue for everyone. To use the air source heat pump correctly, the following points need to be paid attention to:

1. Strengthen the insulation effect of the pipeline

The insulation effect of the pipeline should be strengthened. Pipe warming is very important to project quality, and many dealers realize the importance of pipe warming. The exposed water pipe will drop in the low external ambient temperature. Dealers who have not kept the pipeline warm before should put on "clothes" on the pipeline as soon as possible. Only after wearing clothes can the water pipes be warm and the water in the pipelines will not drop.

2. Do not power off the heat pump

The air source heat pump uses water as the medium to transfer heat. Generally, air source heat pumps have anti-freeze function. When the water temperature is low to a certain temperature, the machine will automatically start to prevent the equipment and pipelines from freezing. If the weather temperature is low and the power is cut off from the air source heat pump, it may cause the water temperature in the pipeline to drop sharply, and the equipment may be frozen and malfunctioned. Therefore, when the heat pump does not operate for a long time, the water in the heat pump, water pump, and outdoor pipelines should be drained in time to prevent the heat pump from freezing.

3. Condensate should be treated in a timely manner

During the heating process of the air source heat pump, a large amount of condensate will be discharged. If the temperature is below zero, the condensate is likely to form ice, which may freeze the drain pipe and then climb up along the drain pipe, which will eventually lead to the equipment not being able to operate normally, so the condensate must be cleaned regularly.

The following methods can be handled: raise the installation position of the host. Under normal circumstances, the height of the host should not be less than 30 cm from the ground. For areas with severe ice and snow, it is recommended to be at least 50 cm; add a traction belt to the host chassis to defrost and defrost and ice; wrap the traction belt on the outer wall of the condensate or defrost water drainage pipeline to prevent icing.

4. Open three channels for water inlet and outlet, install drain valve

During installation, the drain valve and drain pipe must be installed at the lowest point of the water system. Even if it is not at the lowest point of the heat pump, a water discharge valve should be added to the heat pump inlet and outlet. When there is a power outage of more than two hours or a long shutdown is required, open the drain valve at the water inlet and outlet, emptiate the water in the main pump to prevent the temperature from freezing and cracking after the temperature drops, and cut off the power supply. Then, during operation, a comprehensive inspection of the air source heat pump system must be carried out to ensure that there are no faults.

5. Add antifreeze to the system

For heating heat pumps, it is recommended to add antifreeze to the air source heat pump pipeline, such as -15℃ and -25℃ antifreeze. The mixture ratio is based on the standard of not freezing and failure in the pipeline.

6. Clean up debris and snow around the fuselage in time

If the heat pump is installed on the back and the ventilation is not good, it will affect the heating effect of the heat pump. Therefore, more debris around it should be cleaned, otherwise it will affect the dissipation of cold air, which will lead to insufficient heat in the air and affect the heating effect.

7. Pay attention to cleaning the machine regularly and do a good job in maintaining and maintaining the air source heat pump.

Let’s analyze the causes of frozen cracks in the air source heat pump, which mainly include the following three points:

1) The heat pump is powered off for a long time

When the temperature is below -5℃, if the power outage time exceeds 4 hours, it is likely to cause the heat exchanger to freeze and crack. In particular, when the fluorine circuit system and the water circuit system are frozen at the same time, and the compressor restarts after the incoming call, the compressor directly sucks the water in the outside water circuit into the fluorine circuit, causing the entire heat pump to be scrapped. Therefore, when it is judged that the power may be cut off for a long time, all the water in the heat pump, water pump, and outdoor pipelines should be drained in time to prevent the heat pump from freezing.

2) The heat pump motherboard design does not have anti-freeze protection function

When the temperature is lower than 0℃, as long as the air source heat pump is in power-on state, the heat pump will automatically supply power to the circulation pump for 10 to 15 seconds every 30 minutes, allowing the hot water in the water tank to circulate between the water tank and the main machine. The hot water in the water tank heats the valves, pipelines, water pumps and heat pump heat exchangers to prevent freezing and cracking. However, if the brand equipment used does not have anti-freeze protection function, once a problem occurs, the heat exchange casing may freeze and crack.

3) There is no/short connection of the water flow switch, the temperature probe is not accurate. When the air source heat pump is refrigerated in summer, the heat pump stops working when the water temperature is 0℃-10℃, and starts working when it is higher than 15℃. If the water temperature probe is inaccurate, such as the water temperature has reached 0℃ and the probe shows that the temperature is still at 25℃ (more than 15℃), then the machine will judge that the water temperature has not reached the temperature that needs to be shut down and will continue to cool. At this time, if the water flow switch is not installed or the water flow switch is shorted, it is likely that the heat pump will freeze and crack.

Final summary

Since the air source heat pump is a highly automated device, users need to conduct regular heat pump status checks when using it. If the heat pump can be maintained and maintained for a long time, the operating reliability and service life of the heat pump will be unexpectedly improved. Pay attention to the maintenance of air source heat pumps, clean and inspect heat pumps, wash important parts, check heat pump lines, etc., to ensure that the heat pump does not fail normally, so as to ensure a smooth winter. I hope everyone can have a comfortable and warm winter.
