How to Deal with Freezing of Air Source Heat Pump?

2011-06-10
Latest company news about How to Deal with Freezing of Air Source Heat Pump?

Because the average outdoor temperature is very low in winter, freezing of water system is a very common after-sales problem during the winter heating period of air source heat pump. The most worrying thing about the heating system during the winter heating period is the freezing of water system. Although the main unit of air source heat pump generally has water flow protection function and will not have the risk of explosion like boiler equipment, if it is not operated properly, the unit will not be able to heat for a short time at the least, and in serious cases, it will freeze the air source heat pump or even damage it.

Generally speaking, the main reasons for the freezing of air source heat pump systems are nothing more than "inadequate pipe insulation measures, temporary power outages, and "long-term shutdown and water in the pipes not drained cleanly". So what should be the correct way to deal with unexpected freezing?

Two common thawing methods

1. Blowtorch baking.

The flame temperature of the blowtorch is very high, which can reach 800-1000℃. Therefore, compared with other thawing methods, it is the most efficient in solving the problem of freezing of air source heat pump water systems. However, the disadvantage of using a blowtorch to thaw is that it cannot guarantee whether the heat pump water system is completely unobstructed when the water pipes are severely frozen.

For example, in some cases where the freezing is more serious, if the pipes are not completely unblocked during the thawing process using a blowtorch, starting the machine at this time will still cause damage to the air source heat pump. For example, if a two or three meter long water system has even a 5 cm pipe that is not completely thawed, the water system is still blocked.

2. Self-limiting heating tape thawing.

The correct way to deal with it is to use the heating tape thawing method to slowly melt the ice in the water pipe. After the water system is unblocked, you can turn on the power at full capacity. During the process of melting the heating tape, you can use a blowtorch to assist in melting the ice, but you cannot rely entirely on the blowtorch method. Because although the blowtorch method melts ice quickly, it is easy to cause incomplete melting of ice in some parts of the pipe. At this time, turning on the machine at full capacity will still affect the air source heat pump.
